Takes Two is an Ottawa based duo featuring vocalist Kelsey Hayes and guitarist/bassist Jacob Clarke. Their jazz and blues style is augmented by their youthful take on standards as well as reimagined modern pop tunes. Both young performers have attended Carleton University as Music Majors, and have received extensive training from some of the most prominent musicians in the jazz world.
After establishing their duo in 2015, the pair has performed at corporate and private events, coffee shops, and restaurants around the city of Ottawa. They have performed at such places as the Lord Elgin and the Ottawa Marriott Hotel as well as maintaining a bi-weekly performance at Cafe Cristal, and a monthly performance at Nordstrom's Bazille restaurant, where the duo continue to delight fans.
No matter the occasion, Kelsey Hayes and Jacob Clarke put the audience first. They have a long list of repertoire and are always happy to learn any tunes their audience might enjoy. Engaging and unique, the duo never fails to impress with their covers of jazz and pop tunes.
"It was so wonderful having Kelsey Hayes and Jacob Clarke perform during our client Open House. They are two wonderful young musicians with a lot of passion for what they do. Kelsey’s smooth jazz voice accompanied by Jacob’s guitar and upright bassist performance was captivating. These folks are really going places. If you’re debating on hiring them for a special event you better snap them up now before the word gets out.”

"Kelsey and Jacob are incredibly talented jazz musicians. Their passion, professionalism and ability shine through each time that I see them perform. They performed at a fundraising event at the Lord Elgin Hotel recently, and their music greatly enhanced the atmosphere that evening. Our clients had wonderful feedback, and one of them hired them on the spot for another event! I would recommend them to any of my clients or colleagues."
