Takes Two is made up of Guitarist/Bassist Jacob Clarke and Singer/Songwriter Kelsey Hayes. Together their sound is a modern take on the classics and a new interpretationsof pop music in a jazz style. You'll hear anything from the classic like Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to modern tunes by Buble or Bruno Mars in their sets.
Jacob is an Ottawa based multi-instrumentalist, performer, session musician, and teacher. His performing work has taken him across North America and Europe, performing with international blues artist and JUNO nominee JW-Jones. Jacob graduated from Carleton University with an Honours Bachelor of Music, specializing in Jazz Guitar Performance. While being heavily involved in the Jazz and Blues music scene, Jacob's versatility has taken him into performing a multitude of styles and genres, including: funk, soul, R&B, country, hip-hop/rap, pop, latin/afro-Cuban/afro-carribean, rock, metal, classical, salsa, tango, and reggae.
Kelsey is an Ottawa based adult-contemporary, singer-songwriter. Her music releases have booked her a place on the national stages of Ottawa Bluesfest and CityFolk Ottawa multiple times. She performs regularly around the city as a trained jazz vocalist and with her singer/songwriter material. Kelsey graduated from Carleton University with an Honours Bachelor of Music, specializing in Singer/Songwriter Performance. Kelsey is currently working both as a top liner with EDM artists and on her own singer/songwriter material.
